As of January 1, 2022, the “No Surprises Act” gives you the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of your mental health care costs. Under this law, health care providers need to give clients who either don’t have insurance, or are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological/psychoeducational evaluation services. You can ask me for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule your first session. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
