Dr. Shireen Sonefeldt is a licensed pediatric psychologist (PSY25267) specializing in assessment and treatment for infants and children, individuals, and families. Her approach is unique because of her specialization in relational and behavioral treatments. She offers comprehensive psychological/educational evaluations to clarify diagnosis, individual strengths, and challenges through use of standardized assessment. Dr. Sonefeldt is also certified in perinatal mental health offering parents support during pregnancy and the postpartum period, as well as parenting support throughout child development.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Dr. Sonefeldt earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her Master of Arts and Doctor degrees in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. She earned specialized training in infant and early childhood mental health during an internship accredited by the American Psychological Association in the Birth-to-Five Program in Pasadena, California. While training at the UCLA University Elementary School, she acquired comprehensive training in school-based consultation and school-related psychological services. She is also trained in child psychological assessment from both Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and the Neuro-Developmental and Behavior Clinic at UCI. She has trained extensively in evidence-based practices including Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Infant Massage, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP). Dr. Sonefeldt is also certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C).
